HOLISTIC THERAPIES

Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is the use of a companion animal during a therapy session to provide opportunities for motivation, education or recreation to improve a person’s quality of life. During a therapy session the animal is an integral part of the treatment process and contributes to the person’s physical, social , emotional and cognitive functions. AAT dates back to Ancient Greece where companion animals were used to help people overcome physical and mental illness. More recently in the 1960’s ATT pioneer Dr Boris Levinson a children’s therapist in the US noticed that when his dog Jingles was present during a child’s therapy session the sessions were much more productive. Dr Levinson discovered that children who were withdrawn and had difficulty communicating were more at ease when Jingles was present and oftentimes made real attempts at engaging in conversation. Following this discovery much research has been conducted to prove the therapeutic benefit of AAT. My ambition is to have my beautiful Irish Doodle dog named Tilly present (with consent) during each session with children to help optimise the child’s mental, physical and emotional well-being.

YOGA

Hatha yoga is a beautiful practice which includes asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) which help bring peace and relaxation to the body and mind.
Yin Yoga is a slower paced form of yoga targeting the deep connective tissues and the fascia throughout the body. Postures are held for longer, allowing you time to explore your edge and find stillness. Yin will bring awareness to and relief from the mind, creating a space to be without distraction. This type of yoga can help to bring you back into balance physically and emotionally, promoting flexibility and a sense of calm.

T E S T I M O N I A LS
Honestly, one pilates class a week keeps me flexible and pain free.
Can't recommend this enough.
I so look forwards to my Pilates Flow on a Thursday morning - I was apprehensive to begin with but Brenda was so welcoming and explains the moves so well.
Brenda conducts the class with such care and the right balance of challenge which really makes it worthwhile.
This is my second block and I haven't missed one class - I have never been able to say that about any other exercise class.
Love the classes, I'm starting to feel a lot stronger post-pregnancy and the guided meditation at the end is amazing!
Best nights sleep of the week.
While working from home and shielding, the classes are a vital way to both help mental and physical health.
Seeing Dorinda every day is great.
The chance to stretch tight shoulders and backs from sitting at the laptop all day is just invaluable. As an asthma sufferer, the stretches and breathing exercises are also fantastic.
It gives me dedicated time just for me away from the kids, housework etc.
And you feel great afterwards especially
for relieving any backache or muscle tightness.
Brenda is a great teacher with plenty of knowledge.
She creates a nice atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the class.
Brenda is very knowledgable and passionate about women's health, this shone through in the class which meant it was very engaging.
Well organised, good time-keeping, education each week and materials provided prior to class.
Recording of classes which enabled them to be completed
as many times as you like.
